SolarWorld´s SunGrid

1.6 billion human beings in this world live without electrical power. Many human beings living in the countries of the south have only limited or uncertain access to power. As a result progress and growth are hindered in these regions. SolarWorld AG aims to bring power from the sun in these countries with the project SunGrid.

With the construction of grid-independent solar island systems power is generated at the location of the consumer. With SunGrid the construction of a conventional power grid, and, thus, the construction of large power plants becomes superfluous that consume fossil fuels and emit CO2.

SolarWorld AG will provide solar power modules to the people in such countries in co-operation with a renowned aid organisation.

The technical personnel of the aid organisation would undertake commissioning and maintenance at site.

In one of the first projects with the organisation ´Wildlife For All´ in Komsberg Wilderness Nature Reserve (South Africa) SolarWorld solar power modules were used to operate water pumps.

Other SunGrid projects will contribute towards teaching human beings living in the countries of the South how to use photovoltaic technology and thus gain from it.

SolarWorld AG wishes to contribute towards a solar economy with SunGrid in these countries.
